Infiniti confirms Aussie launch

Nissan-owned premium automotive brand, Infiniti, will launch in Australia next year -- it's official

Nissan Australia chief, Dan Thompson, and new Infiniti General Manager, Kevin Snell, announced details of the brand's launch in Melbourne today.

Thompson and Snell say Infiniti will take on established luxury brands, in terms of both price and specification. The premium brand will arrive Down Under in late Q3, 2012, via a three-city and three-model strategy. Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will see stand-alone franchise-run Infiniti superstores. The dealerships are promised to deliver a boutique, hotel-type experience.

Infiniti will launch with the G37 coupe and convertible models, the recently released M luxury sedan and the FX sports crossover. Diesel models will be offered for both the M sedan and FX crossover. The A6-sized sedan will also offer a hybrid drivetrain. Infiniti chief Snell says that the FX crossover will be the core model for the brand's launch. Later in 2014 and beyond, the new generation G sedan and other models will join the lineup.

Look out for more details on Infiniti's roll-out plan Down Under, soon.
