The latest Infiniti QX60 SUV is being spruiked in an amusing new TV advert that will appeal to fans of the original 1983 feature film, National Lampoon's Vacation.
The original movie, starring Chevy Chase, saw a father take his two kids and wife on a road trip across the USA, which often resulted in calamity. One of the recurring scenes involved supermodel Christie Brinkley and Chevy Chase flirting, which has been recreated in this Infiniti ad.
Those who know the original movie will get a kick out of the TV ad, where a family man in a regular car is flirting with a blonde bombshell in an exotic Italian sports car. Instead of the 1979 Ford LTD Country Squire wagon replete with wood panelling, the protagonist is now driving a seven-seat Infiniti QX60 which is powered by a Nissan-sourced 3.5-litre V6.
We have to wonder why Infiniti hasn't attempted bold campaigns like this in Australia, as it would certainly get people talking… Sometimes a cheeky approach is better than a sophisticated one.

It's no coincidence or a surprise that another cinematic re-make is around the corner. The new 'Vacation' movie will land in Australian cinemas on August 20.
