Infiniti has today released pricing for the new Q50 – the car that takes up where the G37 left off, but without conventional petrol drivetrains.
Due for launch next month, the Q50 will only be sold in diesel or hybrid form, with the range comprising three levels of trim.
The entry-level variant is the Q50 2.2d GT (diesel), and hybrid models (in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configuration), are specified to either Q50 S mid-grade or Q50 S Premium flagship level. Infiniti also offers the Q50 2.2d in 'S' and 'S Premium' grades, the latter offering all-wheel drive (in hybrid form only).
The Q50 2.2d GT, as the name suggests, is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel rated at 125kW and 400Nm for a combined-cycle fuel consumption figure of 5.2L/100km. Drive to the rear wheels is by means of a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Featuring the innovative Direct Active Steering, InTouch infotainment system (with two dash-mounted multimedia screens) and a host of advanced active safety features, the Q50 2.2d GT is priced at $51,900.
A 3.5-litre V6 lies at the heart of the hybrid models, developing 268kW and 546Nm for a fuel consumption figure of 6.8L/100km in combined-cycle testing, and a 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds. Like the diesel, the V6 drives through a seven-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels (and all four wheels in the case of the Q50 S Premium variant). A 50kW electric motor supplements the power available from the petrol V6.
The advanced active safety features (for the flagship models) include Back-up Collision Intervention, Around View Monitor, Active Lane Control, Blind Spot Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Forward Emergency Braking and Predictive Forward Collision Warning.
Standard comfort and convenience equipment at GT level includes 17-inch alloy wheels, the InTouch infotainment and satnav system, LED headlights, Bluetooth3 connectivity, climate control, Active Noise Control, digital radio, tyre pressure monitoring, Infiniti Drive Mode Selector, leather upholstery and intelligent key starting/access.
In Q50 S trim, the hybrid model rides on 19-inch alloys to take advantage of its sportier suspension calibration, but the 2.2d diesel is equipped with 18-inch wheels. The Q50 S also gains shift paddles, a BOSE premium audio system, electric moonroof and sports front bumper, over and above the GT specification.
In the S Premium grade, the Q50 2.2d moves up to 19-inch wheels, but retains the rear-wheel drive layout of other diesel variants. All-wheel drive is reserved for the Hybrid model in this level of trim. Standard features shared by both diesel and hybrid variants in this grade include: active cruise control, Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Blind Spot Intervention (BSI), Back-up Collision Intervention (BCI), Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection and Active Front-lighting System (AFS) with High Beam Assist.
"This exciting new Infiniti Q50 stretches the boundaries of what a sports sedan can be, propelling Infiniti in a bold new direction," says Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Ltd, as quoted in a press release.
