Infiniti readying pure-electric concept for Pebble Beach

Premium brand looks like it could reveal another battery-powered retro racer at US classic car festival

Infiniti has confirmed it will pull the drapes off a new pure-electric concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 23.

Teasing a single pic of its new creation, Infiniti is thought to be creating a follow-up to the Nissan LEAF-powered Prototype 9 it revealed last year.

That car was said to have been inspired by a 1940s Formula 1 race car and featured an exposed cockpit with a single handmade leather seat and a novel fixed-hub steering wheel incorporating a small instrument panel.

From the teaser released late last night it appears the new concept will, again, feature a driver's seat open to all the elements.

Interestingly, this year's concept is the work of Infiniti's new executive design director, Karim Habib, who was recently poached from BMW.

Habib is likely to be keen to make his mark and the concept is expected to inspire the future design direction of the Nissan-owned Japanese luxury brand.
