We’ve seen the spy shots and now here is what could be the first official design drawing of the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe.
Supplied to Carscoops by a reader named Erico in recent days, it’s unclear if this professional looking sketch is indeed created by Porsche, which is expected to debut its first Cayenne Coupe at the Frankfurt motor show in September – and potentially preview it much sooner.
The Porsche Panamera-inspired rear-end of the crossover coupe pictured here is consistent with the rump of pre-production prototypes spotted testing in recent months.
Featuring a heavily tapered roofline that plunges into sharply raked rear windscreen, the rear-end is punctuated by a tailgate spoiler and slender tail-light clusters, which are joined by a full-width light strip first seen on Panamera but since adopted by the latest 911.
The first ‘coupe’ (but still five-door) version of the Cayenne should inherit many of its namesake’s existing powertrains, plus the expected 500kW/850Nm V8 plug-in hybrid set-up from the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which hits 100km/h in just 3.4sec.
European reports state the 2020 Porsche Cayenne Coupe will be officially revealed within weeks before it goes on sale in Europe by the end of this year, so expect an Australian release in 2020.
The launch of the Cayenne Coupe, which will top Porsche’s SUV range and rival super-crossovers like the Lamborghini Urus and upcoming models from Aston Martin Lagonda and Ferrari, follows the release of the facelifted Macan.
Porsche has confirmed its smaller SUV will be available in all-electric form in its next generation (although it confirmed to us that petrol versions will continue), but so far there is no sign of the Porsche Macan Coupe that we understand was approved for the current generation and then shelved.
