Isle of Man Cops get BAC Mono interceptor
Single-seat supercar set to govern the few speed limits enforced on small British islandThe Isle of Man police force has announced it has recruited a BAC Mono to encourage safer driving on the Island that stages the world-famous TT motorcycle race.
Claimed to be an "active member of the fleet", the Mono will also be on display at a number of festivals hosted on the Isle of Man.
Weighing in at just 580kg and powered by a 277kW 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine sourced from Ford tuner Mountune, the BAC is capable of hitting 100km/h in less than 2.8 seconds and topping out at more than 274km/h.
Unfortunately, even those blistering figures aren't enough for some of the regulars who visit the island and the Mono will work alongside the Isle of Man police forces range of unmarked superbikes that target unsafe riding on the derestricted roads where the fastest cars hit 300kmh and the fastest bikes in excess of 330km/h during the TT race.
It's not known how long the island's police force get to keep their Mono, which is on load from the low-volume British supercar-maker.
