Bruce and Denise Morcombe have been actively contributing to child safety around motor vehicles since the establishment of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation in 2005.
The foundation was established after Bruce and Denise’s son Daniel was abducted and murdered in December 2003.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation actively promotes child safety education and awareness through award-winning programmes that are conducted to educate and assist school children and parents across the country.
The foundation was instrumental in the establishment of the Queensland Department of Education’s Training and Employment’s Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum, which aims to teach children about personal safety and awareness. The programme addresses cyber safety and phone safety, focusing on three key safety messages: Recognise, React and Report.
The foundation’s aim is to have other states and territories adopt the curriculum.
In their national travels Bruce and Denise Morcombe have clocked up high kilometres in their D-MAX ute, so this year long-time foundation supporter Isuzu stepped in and presented them with the keys to a brand new MU-X to help in their ongoing travels.
“We all know it has been a pretty heavy start to the year for everyone involved with the foundation and this was our little way of helping,” said Isuzu Ute Australia’s Assistant General Manager of Marketing and PR, Dave Harding.
