Isuzu X-Runner ute arrives

Launch of limited-edition ute coincides with I-Venture off-roading club

Isuzu Ute has launched a second run of the X-RUNNER variant of its D-MAX one-tonne ute range. The special-edition is priced at $51,990 drive-away.

Following the success of the original roll out 12 months ago, Isuzu will offer 360 units of the 2015 X-RUNNER (pron: ex-runner). It is based on the 4x4 LS-Terrain model but adds extra features including satellite navigation, auto climate control, rear parking sensors and a reverse camera. Keyless entry and start is also included.

Available in pearlescent white and lapis blue, the X-RUNNER ute exterior also gains "unique contrasting striping and decals" along with an alloy sports bar, body kit extras and a tub liner.

As with all D-MAX utes the X-RUNNER is covered by a five-year warranty with five-year roadside and also features a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

The launch of the limited-edition Isuzu ute also heralds two significant initiatives by the company, the first of which is a new capped price servicing program dubbed Isuzu Ute Service Plus.

The second initiative is the I-Venture Club, an owner reward program not unlike what HSV offers but instead of track days Isuzu will give owners the opportunity to attend day-trip off-roading events.

"It's an exclusive Isuzu owners club that brings together like-minded people and encourages them to utilise the adventure that is inherent in all of our vehicles," said Dave Harding, Isuzu Ute Australia's marketing and PR boss.

"The development of the I-VENTURE Club was a result of enquiry we received from our customers who were searching for somewhere safe to learn the ins-and-outs of off-road driving without damaging their vehicles, or embarrassing themselves by getting stuck somewhere at high tide!" he added.

The events will take place in "safe and structured environments under expert tutelage" says Isuzu.

"The I-VENTURE Club will offer different experiences to different customers – from the 'first time out' novice to the experienced hardcore off-roader … and via our dedicated website it will become a hub where our owners can get together to share their stories, pick up some professional advice and ultimately use their vehicles for what they were designed for – and that's adventure," Harding said.

Motoring.com.au will have a report on one of the first I-VENTURE events soon.
