Italian specialist debuts Mugello supercar

Niche Tuscan firm unveils its vision of a how a modern-day supercar should look

Hardly a month goes by without some obscure, ultra-niche carmaker rolling out its take on the supercar theme, and here’s the latest addition to the catalogue.

Pictured alongside is the evocatively named Mugello and it’s the handiwork of bespoke carmaker and restorer Faralli and Mazzanti (F&M).

The company’s wares aren’t altogether unfamiliar to us as five years ago the boutique firm unveiled the retro-laden Antas V8, a voluptuous handcrafted coupe powered by a 4.7-litre Maserati V8.

This time around it’s adopted a more modern approach. Named after the sinuous Scuderia Ferrari-owned Italian race circuit, the Mugello’s elaborately sculpted profile is more akin to the products we’ve come to expect from the likes of UK’s Noble.

The Mugello was penned by Luca Mazzanti and chief designer Zsolt Tarnok at F&M’s Tuscan headquarters, but no technical details pertaining to the car have as yet been released.

All we know is that just five examples will be built, at a price that will most likely resemble a telephone number. The exorbitant spend will at least enable each prospective owner to have their car tailored to their exact tastes – in keeping with the company’s bespoke tradition.

Some of the notable design elements include stalk-like mirrors (a la Pagani Zonda), LED lights front and rear, an integrated roof scoop and generously sized side scoops to channel air to the mid-mounted engine.

A bit of background about Faralli & Mazzanti – the company was established 20 years ago and the two co-founders initially focused on restoring classic Ferraris and Maseratis. In more recent years Mazzanti took sole control of the firm and enlisted the services of Zsolt Tarnok as a designer/engineer.
