Jaguar’s stillborn C-X75 supercar will be brought back from the dead for a one-off appearance in the next James Bond film Spectre.
Driven by the bad guys the Jaguar supercar will star in a dramatic chase sequence on the streets of Rome, where viewers will see it dice with the new Aston Martin DB10 driven by the British secret agent, played by Daniel Craig.
It’s not just the C-X75 and DB10 that will make their cinematic debut in Spectre.
As part of a product placement that’s thought to be worth millions, both the new 405kW Range Rover SVR and a modified ‘Big Foot’ version of the Land Rover Defender will also star - but it’s the 375kW Jag supercar that will set car enthusiasts’ pulse racing.
The reappearance of the $1.5m Jaguar will no doubt fuel rumours that it could finally be heading for production after the project was aborted back in December 2012 due to a weak economic climate.
Originally just five C-X75 prototypes were made each running an experimental F1-inspired 1.6-litre hybrid powertrain that provided stunning performance with 0-100km/h taking 2.8s and 0-160km/h taking a barely believable less than six seconds before topping out at 320km/h.
Developed by Cosworth and the Williams F1 team the C-X75 should have been a natural rival for both the Porsche 918, McLaren P1 and LaFerrari.
The Range Rover SVR and ‘Big Foot’ Defender that features huge 37-inch off-road tyres and tough underbody armour are believed to feature in another drama-fuelled sequence in Austria.
Spectre will be the twenty-fourth James Bond movie when it is released 6 November 2015.
