Jaguar continues to adopt the drip-feed approach in the lead-up to the launch of its crucial new XJ flagship sedan, and the latest instalment in the campaign is a video touting the benefits of its all-aluminium bodyshell.
Featuring Jag boffins Mark White and Mick Mohan, the video (watch it here) borders towards stating the obvious, but among the noteworthy claims made for the new car are best-in-class fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, as well as the fact that it's 85 per cent recyclable.
White also waxes lyrical about how agile and nimble the new XJ will be, owing to the fact it's carrying less inertia than limos offered by rival carmakers.
US website Leftlanenews.com reports the next-gen sedan -- codenamed X351 -- has already been previewed to a number of dealers, and one source quoted by the website suggested it resembled the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide (more here).
As previously reported by the Carsales Network (more here), design chief Ian Callum has promised more cutting-edge design language than even that of the mould-breaking XF.
All will be revealed when the car is unveiled on July 9, but most industry watchers are tipping the car will closely resemble the stunning C-XF concept that debuted at the 2007 Detroit motor show.
If the accomplished XF is any indication, the XJ should rival (if not eclipse) the best in its class in terms of dynamics, aided by a sprightly kerb weight of circa-1700kg. Its all-aluminium chassis should also provide best-in-class torsional rigidity and strength.
As previously reported by us, powertrain choices will include a 175kW 3.0-litre V6, plus the new-generation 5.0-litre AJ-V8 that recently debuted in the XF.
In naturally-aspirated form the 5.0-litre V8 puts out 284kW, while the supercharged version belts out 375kW, endowing the XFR with the firepower to match the best from AMG and M Haus (more here).
