Jaguar F-TYPE embraces 'British Design'

Limited edition F-TYPE offers enhanced style and added equipment for the V6 S variants

Jaguar has today announced its F-TYPE British Design Edition, which will go on sale in Australia during the second quarter of this year.

Available in both coupe and convertible form, the British Design Edition F-TYPE is based on the 2016 model year 280kW V6 S variants and comes equipped as standard with an exterior sport design pack, upgraded braking system with red callipers, 20-inch 'Cyclone' alloy wheels, premium leather upholstery, exclusive badging and a 380W Meridian Sound System.

The Exterior Sport Design Pack, which is optional on the F-TYPE S, features a gloss black front splitter, body-coloured side sill extensions and rear venturi. Coupe models also gain a fixed rear spoiler.

Named the Jaguar Super Performance Brake system, the premium braking system is kitted out with calipers finished in red – or black as an option. Exclusive to the F-TYPE British Design Edition, the 20-inch Cyclone alloys in Satin Dark Grey are wrapped in 255/35/R20 (front) and 295/30/R20 (rear) tyres.

Inside, the F-TYPE British Design Edition is upholstered in Jet leather in a choice of three colours – Red, Ivory or Reims Blue – and the look is complemented by contrast stitching and carbon-fibre trim around the centre console in lieu of alumimium for the standard car. Additionally, the seats and door sill scuff plates feature unique badging.

Audio systems are either the 380W 10-speaker Meridian set-up with Jaguar's InControl Touch infotainment, or the 770W 12-speaker system – also from Meridian – with InControl Touch Plus providing added connectivity in the form of apps.

Paying tribute to the colours of the Union Jack, the F-TYPE British Design will be offered in a choice of Caldera Red, Glacier White and – new to the F-TYPE range – Ultra Blue, with a fourth colour, Ultimate Black, also available to order. Identifying features of the British Design Edition include revised badging in the grille and on the tailgate.

Priced from $166,650, the British Design Edition will be sold with the option of manual (coupe only) or automatic transmission, and rear- or all-wheel drive (the latter limited to an automatic coupe variant).

"The F-TYPE is a sports car that excites the senses, with a visual drama that is both individual and very British. Creating the British Design Edition gave us the opportunity to subtly enhance the way the F-TYPE looks – inside and out," says Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, as quoted in a press release.
