Jaguar has updated its XJ limousine for 2018 and added a powerful range-topping XJR575 model.
Producing a mighty 423kW/700Nm from its supercharged 5.0-litre V8, the new XJR575 is named after the 575hp it produces – some 25hp (18kW) more than the old XJR.
Against the clock, this means the more powerful XJR is 0.2sec quicker to 100km/h, taking just 4.4 seconds and topping out at 300km/h.
As well as being quicker than the outgoing XJR, the new XJR575 comes with a new rear spoiler, side sills and tweaked front bumper that's said to feature lower air intakes with gloss black surrounds.
Large gloss black 20-inch alloys are standard that hide a set of bright red brake callipers.
Inside, the XJR575 has branded kick-plates and the option of quilted leather seats that feature yet more '575' logos.
It's not just the introduction of a more powerful performance flagship; the rest of the XJ range has received a comprehensive tech overhaul.
The updates involved the availability of a new on-board 4G WiFi capability and the addition of a larger centrally-mounted 10-inch touch-screen infotainment system.
New safety equipment also becomes standard with the luxurious limousine gaining the firm's Forward Traffic Detection that assists with visibility when pulling out of blind junctions.
An active lane keep assist and fatigue detection also becomes standard along with Jaguar Land Rover's latest autonomous emergency braking that includes pedestrian detection.
On sale in Europe this November, the updated XJ range is expected to make it to Australia early next year.
