Jaguar tops JD Power survey

The notion of Jaguar topping a customer satisfaction survey might appear preposterous to those who recount tales of dubious electricals and that'll-do build quality, but the fact is the iconic British marque has topped the J.D. Power and Associates Sales

Conducted annually in the US by reputed market analysts J.D Power and Associates, the study measures the level of satisfaction among new-vehicle buyers express with the sales process. Unlike some other surveys conducted by the organisation, the Satisfaction Index isn't a measure of how reliable or fault-free the vehicle is.

Issues buyers said they were concerned about included the amount of time they had to spend in a dealership, the ease of the negotiation process, being able to get their car equipped with features they wanted (11 per cent said they had paid for items they didn't want or need) and financing deals, as well as how they were treated by salespeople.

Jaguar scored 889 points out of a possible 1000, ahead of Lexus (888), Buick and Porsche (878), Cadillac (874), Lincoln and Mercedes-Benz (873). Languishing at the bottom of the list were Nissan (817), Subaru (816), Suzuki (815), Kia (810) and Isuzu (743).

JD Power's findings were based on responses from 37,296 new-vehicle purchasers in May. Not surprisingly, the study revealed that customer satisfaction levels with the price of vehicles increased after the big three manufacturers in the US (GM, Ford and Chrysler) launched employee discount promotions earlier this year.
