Jaguar XE, XF AND F-PACE get updated engines and new safety kit

Jaguar has announced that its XE and XF sedan, as well as its more recently launched F-PACE, will all benefit from Jaguar Land Rover's latest Ingenium engines, new driver assist technology and updates to the infotainment system.

Biggest updates are two new Ingenium engines have been added to the line up – a 2.0-litre turbo that now produces either 147kW or 184kW and a new 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that produces 177kW.

In Europe, both the small XE sedan and larger XF get both engines while the F-PACE only gains the more powerful 184kW 2.0-litre turbo and the diesel.

As well as the new engines, the flagship XE S also has its supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol boosted by 30kW to a more muscular 280kW.

Jaguar has revealed how much quicker that makes the Audi S4 rival.

As part of the model year updates the XE and XF also now come with the option of the Jaguar Configurable Dynamics. This allows drivers to adjust their car's engine, gearbox, steering weight and dampers (if adjustable).

More new technology introduced includes a dual-view screen for the 10-inch infotainment screen that allow the driver and passenger to view different displays. Jaguar has also added a 360degree view parking camera and a new auto-payment tech that allows drivers to pay for fuel via their infotainment system.

Other new tech includes the addition of a gesture boot lid function on the XE and XF and adding blind spot assist and autonomous emergency braking that detects pedestrians on the XE.

It's not yet been confirmed yet what engines or equipment Jaguar Australia will take, but production of the upgraded models begins in April, so expect full local details and pricing before they arrive here mid-year.
