Jeep and RAM have both released teasers for the concepts they will reveal at this year's SEMA modified car show in Las Vegas from November 2.
No details have been released alongside five pics of the concepts that will be unwrapped at show, but from our first glance it appears that Jeep and RAM will use the show to reveal upgraded electrified versions of their current models.
For US buyers, the most important concept is tipped to be a plug-in version of the gob-smacking RAM 1500 TRX super-ute.
Fuelling the rumours is the use of bright blue for the RAM lettering and tow hooks. The same hue is already used to distinguish Jeep’s 4xe plug-in hybrid variants from their donor models.
There's been no confirmation, but it's thought the plug-in 1500 TRX pick-up will use the same powertrain set-up as the Wrangler 4xe – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine combined with a 17.3kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors.
Power and torque should be around the same 280kW and 637Nm as the Wrangler 4xe, which much less than the TRX’s 500kW-plus supercharged V8 produces, but the eco-friendlier RAM truck should be capable of a pure-electric driving range of around 40km.
The Jeep teasers are trickier to decypher but are thought to herald a new safari option that brings more windows for the four-door Wrangler Unlimited, plus a 4xe version of the Wrangler Rubicon and what could be another modified RAM 1500 hybrid.
All three Jeep concepts are set to feature new official MOPAR accessories that will be available via the dealer network globally.
Finally, the most curious concept seems to involve a retromod version of the Kaiser Jeep M715 military truck that was originally made from 1965-1969 and is still produced under licence by Kia today.
From our first glimpse, it looks like Jeep plans to reveal the ultimate off-roading camper based on an old military ambulance.
Stay tuned as more teases will be revealed shortly ahead of the SEMA show.
