Jeep will unveil six new concept vehicles at its 2014 Moab Jeep Safari, an annual event held at the canyon-surrounded town of Moab in Utah, USA.
Continuing its tradition at the annual Easter event, which attracts hardcore 4WDs to the rough backcountry around Moab and will this year be held over April 12-20, Jeep has teased two of the half-dozen heavy-duty mud-slingers it will show there.
From what we can make out, the Jeep Cherokee Dakar – based on the new Cherokee that finally arrives here in two months -- features a red-on-charcoal paint scheme along with flared wheel-arches and a raised ride height allowing for great wheel articulation and ground clearance.
Matched with rugged off-road tyres, the Jeep Cherokee Dakar also features front and rear tow hooks and could be the next logical step after the TrailHawk model which we tested last year and was very capable on rough terrain.
There's also still time for Jeep to unleash a high-performance on-road version, the Cherokee SRT4, but it's unlikely to be at Moab.
The Wrangler MOJO concept is the second confirmed new vehicle and features bold orange and black exterior paint work, which what appears to be a bolstered front bumper with an in-built winch. Bead-lock wheels are also in evidence from the teaser image, shod with off-road tyres.
Jeep will launch its new-generation Cherokee in Australia from June, after its local debut was delayed twice -- originally from August 2013 and then again from March 2014.
The current 'JK' Jeep Wrangler has been around since 2007 and is not due to be replaced until early 2018. Even then the design won't be wildly different from the square-edged nuggety style we see today.
