According to Jeep Scrambler Forum users, the pick-up version of the Jeep Wrangler that's set to be revealed later this month at the Los Angeles motor show will be called the Jeep Wrangler Gladiator.
The discovery that the name has switched internally from 'Scrambler' to 'Gladiator' was made after the Jeep Wrangler Gladiator moniker was used on the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) media site, before the link to the pick-up, due to be launched in 2019, was deleted. The revelation that the Wrangler-based pick-up could carry the 'Gladiator' name makes sense as Jeep used it during the 1960s and even revived the alias in 2005 for a dramatic Wrangler concept.
As well as the Gladiator name, the same forum says the Wrangler pick-up will be offered in three trims, in the US at least -- Sport, Overland and Rubicon.
The Overland trim is not currently offered on the Wrangler range and is thought to have been reserved for an off-road camping version.
Adding more credence to the name change from Scrambler to Gladiator is that the former is used by the Audi-owned Ducati brand for its sub-brand of retro-styled off-road bikes.
All will be revealed on November 26 when Jeep reveals the Wrangler pick-up.
