Jeep Grand Wagoneer teased again

This time US off-road brand shows off luxury SUV's full-length panoramic roof

UPDATE 01/09/2020 NOON: Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has confirmed the born-again Jeep Wagoneer and new 2021 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid will be revealed via Jeep's YouTube channel at 9:00am EDT (11:00pm AEST) this Thursday, September 3.

31/08/2020: American off-road brand Jeep has previewed its Jeep Grand Wagoneer once again by releasing a new pic of the big luxury SUV's large panoramic roof ahead of its September 3 debut.

Tweeting out two new images over the weekend, Jeep released an aerial photo of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer that not only revealed the size of the panoramic roof but  the fact it will feature a subtle mapping overlay that reportedly shows a map of Detroit.

The second teaser of Jeep's new flagship SUV, which is built to go up against both the full-size Range Rover and Lexus LX, was a detailed pic of a large chromed interior air-vent that features reverse C-shaped slats with chrome finishing.

Look closer and there appears to be storage cubby hole beneath it and, to the left, a silhouette of the Grand Wagoneer accompanied by the words 'EST 1963', paying tribute to the first-generation Grand Wagoneer.

The latest reveal is the sixth time that Jeep has teased its new  Grand Wagoneer, which is expected to be joined by a less luxurious Jeep Wagoneer also available in five-seat and seven-seat configurations.

Previous teasers previewed its gold badges, leather-covered interior and blinged-out chrome grille, highlighting the kind of attention to detail and level of luxury never seen before in a Jeep vehicle.

As well as boosting its fit and finish, the new model will employ a range of advanced technologies, from in-car entertainment to driver assistance systems that will help steer, brake and accelerate the car automatically.

Powertrains for the big American 4x4s are unknown at this stage but Jeep has plenty of traditional engines to draw on, including naturally aspirated and supercharged V8 powerplants for the top-spec model grades. Expect V6 engines to feature at launch and hybrid powertrains in the future.

It’s not yet clear whether diesel power will be available.

Following the commencement of production for the Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer in early 2021, an all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee will begin rolling out of the factory later next year.
