Jeep takes Grand Cherokee SRT8 to the limit

It's black and white. Limited-edition versions of Jeep's bare-knuckled Grand Cherokee SRT8 aim at boosting the macho SUV's on-road presence

Jeep has added more bling to its monumental Grand Cherokee SRT8 super-SUV with the availability of two equal-price limited-edition versions.

Designated Alpine and Vapor, both are essentially identified by colour and are tagged at a price of $81,000 before on-road costs.

Unsurprisingly, the Alpine version is finished in Bright White, while the Vapor comes in Brilliant Black.

That’s where the differences end.

Both come with limited-edition identifying treatment including the replacement of bonnet and door badges with gloss black lettering.

The same treatment is applied to the grille inserts and surrounds, the rear step pad and the rear light bar. If you look closely, you’ll also see that the tailgate flag is accented in black rather than red.

Perhaps more significantly, both Alpine and Vapor SRT8s come with a “dual pane” panoramic sunroof and a 19-speaker SRT “high performance” audio system.

Alpine and Vapor SRT8 models will be restricted to 200 each in Australia. The Alpine is available in Jeep showrooms now, while the Vapor will follow in late January 2013.
