Jeep's forthcoming pick-up based on its all-new Wrangler SUV will be called the Scrambler, according to new leaks.
Set to go on sale in North America some time in 2018, the new Jeep ute has already been comprehensively leaked by a user on the JeepScramblerForum.com.
Allegedly, the forum user was able to access Fiat Chrysler Automobile's (FCA) parts catalogue which conveniently lists future parts for the Wrangler range.
By identifying the correct product code, the user discovered the Wrangler pick-up will come with numerous options which even include a soft-top.
Confirming the 'Scrambler' name, the FCA database also revealed the pick-up will only come with the option of a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel.
Measuring in at almost 840mm longer than the standard four-door Wrangler, the Scrambler will be based on a heavily modified ladder-frame chassis.
To help boost durability and allow a higher payload and tow weight, the Scrambler will come with different front and rear axles, claims the forum hacker.
Making its global debut this November at the Los Angeles auto show, the Wrangler will be available in Australia, initially, in both two-door and long-wheelbase four-door in 2018.
The Scrambler, meanwhile, is set of an Australian on-sale date in early 2019.
In terms of looks, Jeep's pick-up could lift some styling cues from the latest 2016 Jeep Comanche concept, which blended the pint-sized Renegade with the Wrangler chassis.
