The Finer Details

Jensen International says the Interceptor GTX is not a continuation model or restomod, but an all-new interpretation of the classic British grand tourer.

Developed as an engineering test bed, the GTX is intended to validate the design, chassis, powertrain and supplier relationships that will underpin future Jensen products.

Power comes from a supercharged 6.8-litre V8 developed with US specialist Late Model Engines. Jensen claims the engine is capable of producing up to 716kW in its current specification, with potential for significantly more in future applications.

The front-mounted V8 drives the rear wheels through a rear transaxle featuring a six-speed sequential gearbox and limited-slip differential.

Underneath, the GTX uses a bonded aluminium chassis with double-wishbone suspension and three-way adjustable Nitron dampers. Stopping power comes from AP Racing motorsport brakes, while aerodynamic aids include a front splitter, rear diffuser and adjustable rear wing capable of generating more than 350kg of downforce.

Its body is hand-formed from aluminium by Coventry Metalcraft and combines modern surfacing with familiar Interceptor design cues, including a long bonnet, rear-set cabin and wraparound rear glass treatment.

"We were determined to create something entirely new that carries the spirit of the Jensen Interceptor forward in a modern, authentic manner," Jensen International managing director David Duerden said.

The cabin remains focused on track use, featuring a FIA-approved roll cage, carbon-fibre racing seats, six-point harnesses and a MoTeC digital display system.

The Road Ahead

The GTX will now enter an ongoing development program as Jensen refines the package ahead of future production models.

According to the company, the next step will be a road-legal Interceptor GTR based closely on the GTX, followed by a more luxury-focused GT model inspired by the original Interceptor grand tourer.

"The GTX is the first physical expression of our vision for the future of Jensen," Duerden said.
