Joss Supercar: first image revealed

Melbourne-based Joss Developments releases the first detailed image of its production ready JP1 Supercar ahead of unveiling at AIMS this Friday

Australian International Motor Show
Australian sports car company Joss Developments has released this image of its internally coded 'JP1' supercar, the as-yet-unnamed supercar reported to be well into its "developmental stage".

Set to steal the limelight at Friday's opening of the Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) in Melbourne, the JP1's impressive performance credentials and precision styling have taken a long road to facing reality – the concept first revealed to an unsuspecting public way back in 2004.

Joss' technical director, Matt Thomas, saying his team has worked tirelessly since then, the car nearing closer to its production-ready stage since last year's showing of the matte-black 410kW/650Nm V8-powered prototype in Sydney.

"What you see in this first public image is the tip of the iceberg, it's what you cannot see that has been the focus for the JOSS team in recent months," explained Thomas.

"The car's styling is the result of considerable time and effort, the design team has worked hard to integrate the car's technical needs with our customers' design expectations.

"This vehicle on display is not our production model but it plays a vital role in validating and proving numerous assemblies and parts.

"We think it's important to give the public a small glimpse of what has been going on behind the scenes at Joss so we decided to share this often unseen part of our project at this year's motor show."

"For us, the emphasis is not on rushing to market; it is about entering with a special vehicle that meets the exacting standards customers will apply to this exclusive type of sports car," Thomas concluded.

The Australian International Motor Show begins this Friday July 1 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.
