Ken Block, best known for his Gymkhana antics on YouTube, is at it again. Not content with compact, high-powered hatchbacks anymore, Block has engineered all-terrain tracks on to his pick-up truck to tackle the snowy countryside.
The car, dubbed the Ford F-150 RaptorTRAX, is powered by a monstrous supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine, which should be more than enough to hoon through the powder.
However most impressive of all is the replacement of all four wheels with heavy duty Mattracks, which are tank-like treads. These all-terrain tracks are specially designed to get over rough terrain and can more commonly be seen on emergency service vehicles around the world.
The RaptorTRAX is also kitted out with a roll cage, Recaro seats, snowboard racks, a rear-mounted winch, exterior-mounted lights and an exterior stereo setup, perfect for pumping out dubstep.
"This project is something I’ve had in my head for awhile now," Block said after putting the finishing touches on the beastly vehicle.
Block owns another 'regular' Ford F-150 Raptor and has previously done a similar track conversion to a Subaru WRX STI.
"It’s an absolute beast of a machine and I’m stoked with how it’s turned out," he said.
The Ford F-150 is America’s best-selling car, with one F-Series sold in the States every 41 seconds.
After footage of Block’s RaptorTRAX is released, and the recent unveiling of a new generation F-150, we wouldn’t be surprised to see sales increase for Ford’s iconic pick-up truck.
"Next up is for me to take it deep into the backcountry ASAP to help me and some friends slay some powder on our snowboards," said Block, who has dubbed the ute a 'mountain assault vehicle'.
Expect to see video of Block thrashing his RaptorTRAX sometime mid-2014, complete with hooliganism, slow-mo powder snow spray, matched to a banging soundtrack.
