Kia announces concept for Frankfurt
Korean brand's German designer previews new coupe design study set for September unveilingKia is pulling out all stops to 'westernise' the company's product range and image.
The latest effort is a 2+2 sports coupe designed by Kia's Europe-based design team under the supervision of chief designer Peter Schreyer.
Yet to be named, the concept car will make its debut at the Frankfurt International Motor Show on September 11.
According to Schreyer, who was recently honoured by Britain's Royal College of the Arts (more here): "Kia has given me the opportunity to shape its whole brand design and character."
Schreyer was appointed to the position of Chief Design Officer in September 2006 after 25 years of work for Volkswagen and Audi, suggesting that Kia wanted a 'Eurocentric' designer for future product design.
The new car is the second concept unveiled by Kia at a European motor show, the first being the Kia ex_cee'd cabrio concept, which was introduced at the Geneva Show back in March (more here).
