Kia brings down the curtains

Life-saving device will be offered as an option for base and mid-range variants of the new Rondo

Kia has officially announced that the new Rondo mini MPV will be available with the option of side curtain airbags in the lower levels of trim.

Priced at $990, the option won't be immediately available, but from May production/June retailing, buyers of the Rondo LX and EX will be able to specify the feature, which provides head-protection for all occupants in the event of a side impact.

The curtain airbag option also includes side-impact airbags providing thorax protection for the front-seat occupants in a side-impact crash. Optioned up with these safety features, the Rondo LX and EX models will equate to the flagship EX-Limited in safety terms, since the EX-L is already fitted with these features as standard.

Furthermore, the Rondo LX and EX models fitted with this option also adopt the Rondo EX-L's active front headrests.
