Kia EV6 GT pricing revealed

No spare change out of $100K for most expensive – and fastest – Kia ever sold in Australia

Kia Australia has set a price of $99,590 plus on-road costs for the 2023 Kia EV6 GT, the all-electric hero model that’s the fastest and most expensive car the South Korean brand has ever offered Down Under.

Easily cracking the $100K barrier to get it to a drive-away point, the high-performance dual-motor EV’s RRP was revealed today through independent industry pricing guides, placing the Kia EV6 GT a considerable $12,000 upstream of the lower-output dual-motor EV6 GT-Line (from $87,590 plus ORCs).

The widely acclaimed Kia EV6 range, which was recently named carsales Car of the Year 2022, opens with the single-motor EV6 Air priced at $72,590 plus ORCs.

A GT-Line single-motor version is also available for a $7000 premium.

As we recently found in our overseas review, the 2023 Kia EV6 GT – which has a tight cap on supply and a long list of eager Aussie buyers champing at the bit to get hold of one – is another brilliant addition to the range, offering 430kW of power and 740Nm.

It can reach 100km/h from standstill in just 3.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 260km/h.

The claimed driving range for the GT, which uses the same 77.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack as the dual-motor GT-Line, is 410km – down from 484km.

But what it loses in range the GT more than makes up for in outright performance terms compared to the GT-Line AWD (239kW/605Nm) – and represents far more than simply a software upgrade.

As we’ve reported, chassis refinements include the hydraulic tuning of the shock absorbers and the motor-driven electric power steering (MDPS) system, both of which were finetuned in Germany on both road and track before rough-road testing was completed in Australia.

A raft of other mechanical changes has been applied, while a GT Drive mode is added to the standard Eco, Normal and Sport settings.

The interior largely carries over, but there are detail changes such as metal inserts with ‘GT’ logos for the seats, plus a striped design feature on the upper door and the central arm rest.

Stay tuned for full Aussie-market specs and further details on local availability.
