Kia has completed the pricing roll-out of the 2025 Tasman ute family, confirming the cost of single- and dual-cab chassis models this week.
The line-up opens with the 2025 Kia Tasman S 4x2 single-cab chassis which starts from $38,010 plus on-road costs, making it the only Tasman variant priced under $40K and more expensive than any of its key rivals.
Adding 4x4 to the mix inflates the price $7000 to $45,010 (S 4x4 single-cab chassis), while the better-equipped SX 4x4 single-cab chassis starts from $49,250.
There are only two dual-cab chassis models: the $48,240 S 4x4 and the $52,740 SX 4x4, both of which will land in August – the single-cabs aren’t due until Q4.
The five cab chassis variants join the existing array of six dual-cab pick-ups, pricing for which opens from $42,990 for the S 4x2 – again, $7000 cheaper than the equivalent 4x4.
Circling back to the entry-level S 4x2 single cab chassis, the cheapest Tasman is much more expensive than the cheapest Toyota HiLux 4x2 single-cab chassis, which starts at just $27,730, admittedly with a petrol engine.
It’s also more expensive than the cheapest diesel 4x2 single-cab chassis Ford Ranger (XL, $37,130), GWM Cannon (Premium, $36,490 drive-away), Isuzu D-Max (1.9 SX, $32,700), Mazda BT-50 (1.9 XS, $37,095), Mitsubishi Triton (GLX, $34,490), Nissan Navara (SL, $36,428) and HiLux (Workmate Hi-Rider, $32,970).
This is in contrast to the dual-cab 4x4 pick-up's $49,990 starting price that undercuts almost all its rivals.
Like the dual-cab pick-ups, the single- and dual-cab chassis models come with a 154kW/440Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission standard.
The 4x4 models have the same 4x4 system as the S-badged dual-cabs that omprises a multi-plate clutch transfer case that delivers the ability to run in 4x4 on sealed roads (4A) as well as the traditional two-wheel drive high range (2H), locked 4x4 (4H) and 4x4 low range (4L).
Unlike the competition however, the rear differential is an auto-locking unit that activates when wheel slip is detected as opposed to a driver-activated lock.
The cab chassis’ also offer a 1000kg-plus payload and 3500kg braked towing capabilities; the S 4x2 has the highest payload of any Tasman at 1124kg.
Kia will offer genuine accessory trays for the cab chassis models, as well as further options such as an under-tray drawer, toolbox and water tank.
Three trays are offered – heavy duty steel, heavy duty alloy and general purpose alloy. Body and tray paint options can be mixed or matched.
Cab chassis equipment levels reflect their S and SX dual cab pick-up equivalents. Check out this story for our full equipment listing.
Omissions from the cab chassis models include front parking sensors and a rearview camera.
