Not your average home on wheels will go under the hammer at Shannons auctionFor classic car enthusiasts with a love of the great outdoors, Shannons have a kinky Holden FX Ute-based camper going under the hammer at its upcoming November 9 Sydney Spring Auction.
Built on the cut-down 1952 ‘FX’ Ute, the all-metal camper with its Maggiolina rooftop tent was completed in 2004 and behind its matching Glacier Green Holden FX Ute tow car took out the ‘Best Presented’ award at the 2004 FX/FJ Nationals.
Not just a show pony, the camper is a genuine traveller and is fitted with a full slide-out kitchen with three-burner cooktop and stainless steel sink, dual water tanks and has twin battery power, lots of storage space and a wind-up Queen size elevated sleeping area.
Shannons expect this unique FX camper to sell in the $15,000-$20,000 range on November 9, but from then on it will start to get expensive if you want to go the whole hog.
To complete the rig, you’ll also need to stump up an estimated $36,000-$42,000 to buy its matching modified FX Ute tow car, which is fitted with a powered-up 202ci six cylinder engine mated to a five-speed transmission and has uprated disc front brakes and mag wheels . . .
