Koenigsegg previews next Agera RS with sketch

Swedish hypercar brand releases single drawing of new McLaren Senna-rival, set to get epic new wing and diffuser

Koenigsegg has issued its first official tease of the all-new Agera RS replacement it is readying to launch at the 2019 Geneva motor show in March 2019.

Claimed to have been secretly shown to Australian buyers at the car maker's new Melbourne-based dealer group Lorbeck Luxury Cars, the design sketch shown here is claimed to preview the next Agera RS.

Thought to have been issued to whet the appetite for Australian buyers willing to place a seven-figure deposit to be among the first Koenigsegg owners Down Under.

The teaser sketch, suggests the next-generation Agera RS will once again be dominated by an aerodynamic package that will maximise downforce.

That's why the drawing features a giant rear wing and an enormous diffuser that are both tasked with channelling air to boost stability on track and at speeds of over 450km/h.

Look closer and it's also possible to spot the Swedish hypercar will come with a double-bubble roof and curvier rear wings but the outgoing car's visual aggression remains.

The most up-to-date rumours suggest the Agera RS will be renamed for the next model but its twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 will evolve and live on to power the next car.

Despite missing out on a hybrid boost, the updated turbo V8 is expected to receive a large power boost over the current Agera RS' monstrous 865kW/1280Nm.

That means the new Swedish hypercar should easily beat the 458km/h top speed record by an Agera RS back in November 2017.

Set to have to channel all that power to the rear wheels, the Agera RS is almost certain to get a traditional six-speed automated manual instead of the flagship Regara's novel Direct Drive transmission that, it's thought, would compromise lap times as it doesn’t provide meaningful engine braking.

Another area that will help Koenigsegg improve performance and ensure the next Agera is one of the fastest cars ever made is by slashing weight.

Liberal use of more advanced carbon-fibre reinforced plastics from everything from the body, platform, wheels and engine components.

Expect a weight loss of at least 20kg.

Like before, the second instalment of the Agera RS will come with a removable targa roof and feature the car maker's trademark doors.

It's thought Koenigsegg's next hypercar could be the first production model ever to crack 300mph (483km/h).
