Koenigsegg set to stun at Geneva

Koenigsegg hopes to shock and awe show goers when it peels the drapes off two new supercars this March at the Geneva motor show.

Biggest draw to the Swedish supercar maker’s stand will be the unveiling of a car so powerful (and fast) the car maker has coined it a ‘megacar’.

Called the Regara (Swedish for reign or rule), Koenigsegg is keeping quiet about the specifics, but the new Regara is already being tipped as packing even more power than the astonishing 985kW One:1.

If that’s the case it could beat the One:1’s claimed 450km/h top speed making the Regara the world’s fastest production car.

As well as breaking records the new Regara could also take the shape of an extreme track-only rival for the Ferrari FXX K  and McLaren P1 GTR - but in any case expect the new supercar to outgun them both on the power front.

The other supercar that’s set to be revealed at Geneva is a lighter, more potent version of the current Agera R (pictured).

Called the Agera RS, the new track-biased Koenigsegg will come with a significant power boost over the standard car’s 820kW.

The RS will also have its own aerodynamic package that incorporates knowhow gathered from developing the One:1. Expect the RS to generate huge downforce with little drag.

This will make the Agera RS even faster than the regular R. Expect it to sprint from zero to 100km/h in less than 3.0 seconds and top out at over 400km/h.

More new Koenigseggs could be on the way following an exclusive interview with Christian Von Koenigsegg and motoring.com.au at the New York motor show where the founder of the Swedish car maker declared his desire to make a more ‘affordable’ US$500,000 supercar.

Pricing and more details for both Geneva cars will be revealed at their launch next month, but with the knowledge that all of the US$2.85m One:1s have already sold out the new Regara could be the Koenigsegg’s first US$3m car.
