Kumho expands research and development facilities

New research and development facility to head up tyre manufacturer's testing and research activities
South Korean tyre giant Kumho has announced a new research and development centre located in the town of Yongin City.
The new 35,000 square metre facility employs 600 staff and forms the new centre of the tyre manufacturer’s international research and development activities, and will join other development sites across the globe in China, Germany and the United States.
Kumho joins other Korean giants including Hyundai Kia Motors and Renault Samsung in Yongin City, which has become the country’s automotive and technology base.
Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha said the new research and development centre would assist in providing Australians with better quality tyres.
“Globally Kumho strives to innovate and develop more advanced, durable and efficient tyres," Basha was quoted saying in a press release.
"Kumho has developed new compounds and construction methods and Australia has directly benefitted this with new tyres such as the Ecsta 4X KU22, Cru-Gen KL33, Portan KC53 and most recently the Ecsta PS91.”
In Australia, Kumho offers motorists a broad range of tyres for passenger cars, four wheel drives, SUVs, trucks and buses which are available for purchase through retailers across the country.
