Tyres are one of the most important components of any car, the contact patch between vehicle and road surface. Fit the right tyre and you can improve not only your car's handling, but braking performance and fuel economy as well.
With virtually hundreds of different brands to choose from in the local market, Kumho Tyres Australia looks set to cement its place by opening a massive distribution centre at Gelndenning in Sydney's West.
The Korean tyre company has seen strong growth in Australia and has made a commitment to ramp up its distribution efficiency as the number of Kumho retailers increases around Australia.
Its new state-of-the-art $10 million distribution centre has been designed to better facilitate customer orders in a timely manner.
Capable of warehousing around 100,000 tyres in its 5000 square meter depot, the opening of Kumho's new tyre centre was attended by NSW opposition leader and shadow minister for Western Sydney, Barry O'Farrell, MP, along with Jin Soo Kim, the Consul General for the Republic of Korea.
Kumho expects to be a much greater force in the new tyre market in New South Wales, the new distribution centre is the latest sign of Kumho Tyres' growing presence in Australia.
"Australia is a very important market for Kumho and our growth over the past few years has meant that we had to invest in a new distribution centre to ensure our customers are properly serviced and that they receive their orders correctly and on time," said Kumho Tyres managing director Mr Edmund Cho.
Kumho might not be as large as Bridgestone, Michelin or Continental, but it produces more than 50 million tyres annually for a range of vehicles including passengers cars, light and heavy trucks, buses, industrial, agricultural, mining and construction vehicles and even aircraft.
