Fisker Inc has flung the covers off the production-ready 2022 Fisker Ocean electric SUV and revealed more key details for what will be a three-model line-up topped by a 418kW Extreme flagship with a 563km range.
Previously touted by the brand as the “most sustainable and innovative vehicle available”, the design of the “production-intent” Fisker Ocean deviates only slightly from what the company revealed almost two years ago.
That means it still resembles a slightly smaller, more rounded – and quieter – Lamborghini Urus.
With an Australian launch still a possibility, the all-electric Urus lookalike is guaranteed to be at least twice as affordable as the Italian super-SUV given its $US37,499 to $US68,999 ($A51,560-$A94,870) pricing in the US – and yet just as quick on account of the Ultra and Extreme models’ dual-motor powertrain.
While no official torque figure has been confirmed yet, Fisker says the dual-motor variants produce 403kW and 418kW respectively, enough to see them stop the clock from 0-97km/h (60mph) in less than four seconds.
The base Sport variant, meanwhile, has a single-motor arrangement good for 205kW and a 0-97km/h time of 6.9sec – right on par with comparable internal combustion vehicles.
A high-performance version capable of a sub-3.0sec 0-97km/h sprint has also previously been promised.
In terms of batteries, Fisker has cited an 80kWh capacity for pre-production versions, however an exact figure for the market-ready cars hasn’t materialised.
Instead, the company says the Sport is fitted with a lithium-ion phosphate unit which should gift it an effective driving range of 402km on a single charge.
The Ultra and Extreme score a more advanced nickel manganese cobalt battery, delivering claimed ranges of 547km and 563km respectively.
All versions will be vehicle-to-grid (V2G) compatible, but variant-specific charging capabilities are yet to be confirmed.
Standard equipment on the Sport includes a vegan-friendly interior (with most of the materials made of recycled fishing nets, old T-shirts and renewed rubber), two driving modes, a 16-speaker sound system, 17.1-inch infotainment interface, panoramic roof and a digital rear-view mirror.
Safety tech runs to driver drowsiness and attention warning, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), multi-collision braking and traffic sign/traffic light recognition.
The mid-range Ultra steps things up with a 360-degree camera, premium sound system, upgraded AEB system, reverse collision mitigation, lane keep assist and a ‘California Mode’ which drops the windows and opens the roof in one go.
The Extreme is fitted with 22-inch alloy wheels, automated parking, adaptive cruise control, front and side collision warning, an immersive audio system, gaming compatibility and a remote vehicle locator.
Fisker chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said the brand’s mission was to “create the world’s most innovative and sustainable vehicles that are also affordable”.
“It all starts with the Fisker Ocean as we fully embrace a clean future for all,” he said.
