Honda will reveal the production version of its new Civic coupe at the Los Angeles motor show next week.
The coupe version of the 10th-generation Civic will then launch within the next 18 months in North America.
Said to showcase “even sportier lines” than the current sedan, the production car is thought to look similar to the concept Honda showed in April at this year’s New York show.
Like the new Civic hatch and sedan, the coupe is expected to receive 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in-line powerplants matched to six-speed manual and CVT transmissions, driving the front wheels only. It will also carry over its 1.8-litre engine to power the entry-level model.
Based around a new global platform, the Civic coupe has taken three years to develop and has been largely engineered at Honda’s Ohio technical centre and designed in California.
It’s still unclear if the new US-designed coupe has been engineered for right-hand drive markets. If not, it won't go on sale in Australia but more is expected to be revealed next week at the unveiling.
