LA MOTOR SHOW: Infiniti teases its most advanced car ever

Premium Japanese car maker shows off sketch that suggest sporty crossover to be revealed at California car show

Infiniti has confirmed it will reveal an all-new vehicle at the LA motor show on November 28.

Aside from releasing a single sketch that suggests it could be a sporty SUV replacement for the QX70, the Nissan-owned premium Japanese brand has said only that it will be the "most advanced Infiniti in our history".

It's not known if the car Infiniti plans to reveal will be a concept or a near-production-ready vehicle, but it's expected to come with the firm's latest autonomous driving technology and potentially a new pure-electric powertrain -- hence the "most advanced" reference.

It's not the first time the Japanese brand has flirted with a pure-electric powertrain.

Most recently, Infiniti stunned at Pebble Beach in August when it revealed the Prototype 9 -- a reimagined 1940s F1 car that lifted its powertrain from the recently launched Nissan LEAF.

Powered by a 30kWh lithium-ion battery, the small single-seat sports car's 108kW/320Nm single electric motor could launch the retro rocket to 100km/h in just 5.5 seconds and top out at 170km/h.

Expect more teases of the mysterious advanced car from Infiniti in the build-up to the LA motor show on November 29.
