Jaguar has announced it will stage the world debut of the F-TYPE Coupe on the eve of the Los Angeles motor show on November 19, before it makes its world motor show debut in Tokyo the next day.
The British luxury brand’s Australian arm has also announced the hard-top F-TYPE, officially pictured here without camouflage for the first time, will go on sale in Australia in the third quarter of next year.
Jaguar’s announcement confirms our report from May that the F-TYPE Coupe will be revealed by the end of this year and will be followed by the release of full technical details, images and a video at 2:30pm AEST on November 20.
Based on the all-new F-TYPE Convertible that was first unveiled at the 2012 Paris motor show and launched in Australia in July, the all-aluminium F-TYPE Coupe appears to remain faithful to the C-X16 concept that previewed it at the 2011 Frankfurt show.
Also spied several times undergoing development testing, the F-TYPE Coupe will come with the same engines as the roadster, but will cost more.
The F-TYPE Convertible is available in entry-level V6 (priced from $138,645), mid-grade V6 S ($171,045) and flagship V8 S ($201,945) form, although Jagaur recently flagged its intention to lower those prices in response to cheaper Boxster, Cayman and 911 pricing from Porsche.
“The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-TYPE Coupé is a very significant moment,” said Jaguar’s Director of Design, Ian Callum.
“We've been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to F-TYPE Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupé is a uniquely satisfying process -- and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-TYPE Coupé raises the bar yet again.”
As we’ve reported, the F-TYPE coupe and roadster twins are the first in a series of all-new models from Jaguar, with a mid-size crossover based on the C-X17 concept and a mid-size sedan expected to be called the XS.
