The 2022 Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo has emerged at the Los Angeles auto show this week, marking an all-new wagon variant of the German sports car marque’s burgeoning EV family.
The sleek, low-slung Sport Turismo joins the popular Taycan sedan and the Taycan Cross Turismo crossover already on sale in Australia.
However, the new wagon has already been ruled out for sale Down Under, with Porsche Australia set to instead concentrate on introducing more variants of the Cross Turismo including the 4, 4S and Turbo.
A spokesperson for Porsche Australia told carsales the brand is confident its current two-pronged Taycan attack will satisfy demand from local buyers.
“We do not have plans to introduce the Taycan Sport Turismo at this time,” he said.
“We offer the Taycan sedan and Taycan Cross Turismo models in Australia. We are confident that these models cater for Australian owners.
“In terms of wagon configuration, the higher ground clearance and off-road capabilities of the Cross Turismo are ideally suited for the active lifestyle of many Australian Porsche owners, and since deliveries commenced in September 2021 it is already proving popular.”
Revealed overseas alongside the new Taycan GTS sedan, the Taycan Sport Turismo’s full line-up is yet to be announced, however it was shown in GTS trim which means a full-electric dual-motor powertrain that delivers 440kW/850Nm and offers a driving range of up to 504km (WLTP).
Porsche describes the GTS, in both sedan and Sport Turismo, as “the sporty all-rounder of the model range”, while the new wagon “shares its sporty silhouette and rearward-sloping roofline with the Taycan Cross Turismo”.
The Sport Turismo also has the same luggage compartment as the crossover version, which Porsche says “offers more than 1200 litres of load capacity under the tailgate”.
