Lamborghini Aventador successor leaked in design patent
Next-gen Lambo flagship goes for a sleeker, angrier look compared to its aged but iconic predecessorThe design of the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador replacement has been inadvertently leaked online as the Italian performance car brand prepares for its new flagship supercar’s global debut in the coming months.
Still nameless for the time being, the next-generation speed machine’s exterior design has appeared on the WIPO Global Design Database, revealing a Sian and Huracan Technica-inspired aesthetic complete with McLaren-style dual-exhaust outlets high up on the rear apron.
Predictably wedge-shaped and full of the obligatory Lambo angles, the Aventador successor is shown in the sketches to feature a longer tail than its predecessor with a lower and sleeker overall silhouette.
The active spoiler and huge rear diffuser elements first spied on the camouflaged prototype in Italy are present, as are the slatted side intakes and Y-shaped tail-lights complemented at the front by some much bigger daytime running lights as seen on the Lamborghini Sian.
Above the DRLs are the compact but angry-looking headlight clusters, which help give the entire front fascia more of a frown.
Factor in the under-biting front bumper elements and you can start to see a likeness with original Predator… just without the massive forehead and dreadlocks.
The trademark doesn’t reveal anything new about the Aventador successor’s V12 plug-in hybrid powertrain said to feature an 8500rpm redline.
No power or performance figures have been released as yet, but it’s safe to say the reworked V12 and its adjoining electric motor(s) will decidedly further the Aventador’s credentials, which peaked at 574kW/720Nm in Ultimae specification.
A sub-3.0sec 0-100km/h acceleration time is practically a given, as is a top speed north of 350km/h.
Lamborghini’s new flagship will be followed in 2024 by an electrified replacement for the hot-selling Huracan tipped to feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain capable of revving out to a monumental 10,000rpm.
