Lamborghini Aventador SVJ tops $1 million

Nurburgring lap record holder sets new Aussie price record too

The fastest production car to ever lap the Nurburgring will also become the most expensive new Lamborghini production model ever sold in Australia, with its price topping $1 million once on-road costs are added.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, unveiled at the Pebble Beach concours last week, will cost $949,640 (plus ORCs) when it arrives in Australia in Autumn 2019.

In the current range the line-up is topped by the Aventador S Roadster at $825,530 (plus on-road costs). But previously, the $925,300 Aventador SV Roadster was the record holder.

The SVJ will be cheaper in New Zealand, where it will cost $NZ818,864 plus on-roads. A steal by comparison…

The Superveloce (superfast) Jota – hence SVJ -- gets a 566kW version of the Aventador’s mid-mounted 6.5-litre V12 engine, combined with new-generation active aerodynamics and a thoroughly revised chassis tune.

All that helped it race to a time of 6:44.97sec on the Nordschleife in the hands of test driver Marco Mapelli, undercutting the Porsche 911 GT2 by about two seconds.
