Lamborghini will not follow the recent two-wheel drive version of its Huracan with a similar, rear-wheel drive Aventador flagship.
The recently launched Huracan LP 580-2 was created by the Italian car-maker to offer enthusiasts a purer driving experience.
Costing a healthy $50,000 less than its fractionally more powerful all-wheel drive sibling, the rear-wheel drive Lambo has been declared a veritable bargain in the Australian supercar landscape but a similar treatment for the bigger 515kW/690Nm 6.5-litre V12 Aventador has now been ruled out.
Speaking to Brit mag, Autocar, Lamborghini’s R&D boss Maurizio Reggiani said: “The Aventador can only be four-wheel drive because we have so much power and torque to manage; only with four driven wheels are you able to manage this."
Reggiani went on to say that all future Aventador derivatives will maintain four-wheel drive and that the 426kW/540Nm Huracan LP 580-2 was only green lit for production when computer simulations proved two-wheel drive was possible without any problems.
