More hammerhead shark than raging bull, this preposterous contraption is a Lamborghini-derived coupe that goes by the name of the Alar 777 -- presumably with apologies to Boeing.
The brains (for want of a better word) behind the lairy, yellow beast is an Argentinian chap named Jean Ferci, and his previous handiwork includes the weirdly-named Coatl and Eros GT-1, both of which were also spawned by the superseded Lambo Diablo.
It's reasonable to expect jet-like launch capabilities from the Alar 777, as it's powered by a tweaked version of the Diablo's V12, with peak power ramped up to 520kW, which reportedly endows it with a V-max of just under 360km/h.
According to its manufacturer, the Alar 777 will make its public debut at the imminent Buenos Aires motor show (which starts on March 30), and creator Ferci claims it will go on sale in South America under the Lamborghini badge soon after.
However, the plot thickens here as a report in UK's Top Gear says "Lamborghini has categorically denied that the Alar 777 is officially authorised in any shape or form".
According to Top Gear, the Italian manufacturer has also stressed that no licence agreement exists to use the Lamborghini marque in South America.
Seems like there could be fireworks in store at the Buenos Aires show. Perhaps even, a Mexican (fnarr, fnarr) standoff is looming. The fact that it's in Argentina is incidental...
We don't know quite what to make of the Alar 777's styling, but this post on an internet blog site seems to sum it up quite well: "The Alar looks like the bastard child of a Pontiac Banshee crossed with leftover elements from H R Giger's original Alien designs. It is, by all appearances, a waking nightmare on four wheels."
It has all the makings of a genuine showstopper -- for all the wrong reasons!!!
