Lamborghini Urus Performante coupe rendered

If a three-door Urus hyper-SUV is not already on the drawing board at Lamborghini, perhaps a rethink is in order…

The Lamborghini Urus is easily the best-selling model ever from the House of the Raging Bull, and yet there are still those who believe the hyper-SUV shouldn’t exist.

Well, that same demographic probably won’t like the notion of a three-door coupe version either, but we have to say the unofficial renders cooked up by Nikita Chuiko of Kolesa.ru are mouth-wateringly hot.

Sporting a lower roofline, longer doors and revised window line, the imagined Lamborghini Urus coupe is based on the flagship Performante variant and therefore packs in the SUV’s angriest styling cues, including its unique front and rear fascia, exclusive alloy wheel design and contrasting decals.

The darkened hoops and other contrasting body bits are complemented by a black roof which helps make the Urus coupe even squatter than the regular wagon, a point hammered home by the truncated glasshouse.

Chuiko says he left the car’s wheelbase alone and instead lengthened the standard Urus’ front doors to balance out the deletion of the rears, and even pinched the hidden door handles off the Huracan to instil the render with an even sportier character.

The rear-end has essentially been left untouched if you look past the narrower roof and tailgate junction, something that continues to add to the overall theme of squatness evident throughout the design.

We can’t help but see shades of Toyota C-HR in the rear shot, however – perhaps it’s the colour…

Using the Performante as the basis for the render denotes the inclusion of a 490kW/850Nm twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 capable of launching the flagship Urus from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.3 seconds with the help of an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

Odds are a three-door Urus wouldn’t be any faster than a five-door in a straight line, but could be developed to have a marginal edge in terms of dynamics, aided by a lower centre of gravity.

Lamborghini has not committed to a Urus coupe at this stage, however there are sure to be a lot of fans out there who wish it would…
