Visitors to Le Mondial de l'Automobile 2008 (Paris Motor Show 2008) will be the first in the world to see Mitsubishi's new Lancer Sportback.
Built to Ralliart spec, the Lancer Sportback on display will be powered by a turbocharged engine driving through a twin-clutch transmission to all four wheels.
Production versions of the Lancer Sportback will also be available around the world with 1.5 and 1.8 petrol engines, as well as a 2.0-litre turbodiesel. The DOHC turbo engine fitted to the Lancer Sportback in Paris will produce 177kW of power and peak torque of 343Nm.
Features of the Sportback will include an 'auto-folding function' to tip the seats forward from the luggage compartment (as already seen in the Mazda6 wagon) and raise the floor of the compartment, as required.
The Lancer Sportback is scheduled for its European launch in the southern hemisphere Spring, presumably coinciding with the October dates for the Paris show. Pictures show the Prototype-S, which is visually similar.
