Land Rover announces Evoque pricing

The long-awaited Land Rover Evoque has today taken one step closer to its showroom debut with Australian specifications and pricing officially announced

Land Rover has today announced that it will offer its exciting new Evoque from November, with a choice of three engine outputs, two body styles and three model grades, alongside a wide range of option and accessory packages.

Based on the stunning 2008 LRX Concept, as previewed at the Detroit International Motor Show, the newest member of the Land Rover fold will see prices beginning at $53,395 -- the entry-level five-door Evoque 'Pure'  offering a 2.2-litre turbodiesel powerplant (110kW) which drives all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic transmission is available optionally for $2480.

Like all model grades, Pure is also available optionally with the choice of more powerful 140kW turbodiesel or 177kW petrol engines, as well as three-door Coupé body style .

Evoque Pure offers a generous level of standard equipment, including 17-inch alloy wheels and LED fog lamps. Inside, combination leather/Dinamica upholstery, satin brushed aluminium trim highlights, 5-inch colour audio display, climate control, push-button starter, Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control and rear parking sensors. The model is distinguished by black tailgate badging and high-gloss black tailgate and waistline detail. Further, an 'Atlas' grille, fender blades and bonnet louvers feature on Pure Coupé models.

Stepping up to the mid-spec Evoque Dynamic we find more 'Atlas' exterior treatment (in lieu of high-gloss black) but with silver badging and 19-inch alloy wheels. The interior is upholstered exclusively in leather with what Land Rover says is a "warm and inviting colour scheme". Added equipment includes xenon headlamps, an 8-inch high resolution colour audio display, Meridian prestige sound system, USB connectivity and configurable interior mood lighting.

Finally, range-topping Evoque Dynamic adds a sporting flavour to the compact SUV with deeper body-coloured sills and bumpers which at the rear incorporate the exhaust outlets. Black-finished wing mirrors, grille and fender blades are contrasted by red badging on the tailgate. Indoors, Dynamic models are customisable through a range of colours and add aluminium pedals, a textured metal finish to the centre console and perforated leather steering wheel and gearshift knob.

Across the board available options include seven alloy wheel designs, 16 contrasting interior colour schemes, three contrasting roof treatments and a full-size fixed panoramic sunroof. All SD4 and Si4-powered Prestige and Dynamic models are also available optionally with Land Rover's Adaptive Dynamics handling package for $1950.

Optional packages include the Tech Pack, which upgrades the audio package, adds leather upholstery and larger diameter alloy wheels on Evoque Pure and brings a premium navigation system, voice control, powered tailgate, illuminated tread plate, front parking sensors and rear-view camera to Prestige and Dynamic models.

Further, Dynamic Plus Pack adds one-piece heated sports seats with memory function (in red or black), matching upholstery and headliner for a more "dramatic statement" on all grades.

Land Rover will offer two-wheel drive and manual-only 'eD4' (110kW) versions of Evoque from 2012 with the firm telling the Carsales Network today it had not ruled out offering "other two-wheel drive variants down the track".

Evoque will likely challenge Audi Q5 as well as BMW X1 and X3 models when it goes on sale here in November.
