Last LaFerrari raises $9m for charity

Prancing horse brand's final limited-edition hypercar raises millions for Italian earthquake relief fund

Ferrari has raised $US7 million ($A9.1 million) for the victims of August's earthquake in central Italy by selling its final LaFerrari.

All proceeds of the sale will go towards the reconstruction efforts in the area affected by the quake.

Said to have been presented as gift by Ferrari to its home country, the final LaFerrari comes painted in red with subtle twin white lines that begin at the hypercar's nose and circle the rear engine cover.

A small painted Italian flag on the nose and a commemorative plaque marks what will now be, without doubt, the world's most valuable LaFerrari.

Originally, Ferrari claimed it would only make 499 LaFerrari coupes with production ending back in 2015.

That decision was reversed following the earthquake that claimed 300 lives.

Like the rest of the LaFerrari line-up, which now includes the convertible Aperta, the last coupe is powered by a 588kW 6.3-litre naturally-aspirated V12 which combines a 120kW electric motor. In total the HY-KERS petrol-electric drive system delivers 708kW/700Nm.

The LaFerrari reaches 100km/h in less than three seconds, hits 200km/h in less than seven seconds and arrives at 300km/h an incredible 15 seconds. Top speed is in excess of 350km/h.
