Japanese prestige car company Lexus has added a refreshed 2010 model year GS series to its range.
Lexus' new BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class rival now features upgraded interiors with newer, easier-to-use touchscreen navigation system thanks to a software upgrade, and USB ports as standard.
A third leather option, in addition to the gray and black interior finishes, is now also available: ivory leather.
Other changes to the MY10 Lexus GS include the addition active front headrests and the adoption of Advanced Pre-Collision Safety (APS) system across all models in the GS range.
The APS system is tied into pre-collision seatbelt and brake assist functions that improve the effectiveness of those assets if the car detects precursors to a collision.
If the car's sensors report an imminent collision or loss of control, the system can apply the brakes even if the driver fails to touch the pedal.
Lexus Australia's chief executive John Roca said: "At the time of launch, GS introduced Lexus' unique Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system, and in 2009 the model becomes the first to introduce Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System.
"Furthermore, refinements to navigation systems and on-board entertainment systems make the GS range easier and more enjoyable to drive," Roca stated.
As well as adding advanced safety features across the range, the 2010 model year Lexus GS 300 Sports gets a 10-speaker Lexus premium audio system while all other models (GS 300, GS 460, GS 450h) are delivered standard with 14-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound systems with 5.1-channel surround sound.
As mentioned the GS series now gets a USB jack on top of the standard audio jack plug for connectivity to a wide range of music devices, such as the iPod or iRiver. Like most luxury cars Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity is standard, as is an audio streaming function.
The range-topping GS 450h high performance hybrid model has been given a new exterior look for the 2010 model year, with a new-look grille design that features a horizontal motif. Further visual differentiation includes newly designed 'hybrid blue' brake lights.
New 18-inch aluminium wheels are also offered on the GS 450h and three new colours have been added across the Lexus GS range -- Metallic Silk (Silvery/Gold), Deep Peridot (Green/Gold) and Lapis Lazuli (Deep Blue).
