LDV G10 – What you need to know

It's built by a brand that barely registers on the radar, but the LDV G10 is a practical people mover at an affordable price

Australia's cheapest people mover is the LDV G10 at $30,990 driveaway. It has generated a lot of interest on Carsales and so far owner feedback has been positive.

Available with a single drivetrain and in seven and nine seat layouts, it hits the sweet spot for larger families on a budget – which is al of them. Let's get to know the G10 better...

The LDV G10 features the following standard equipment:
• 16-inch alloy wheels,
• Seven-inch LCD infotainment display,
• Bluetooth hands-free mobile and audio streaming,
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality,
• Cruise control,
• Rear camera with park-assist,
• Air conditioning with separate rear controls,
• Dual side sliding doors,
• Full-size spare wheel and tyre

Premium paint adds $500 to the price.

Safety and Driver Assistance

All G10 models have driver and passenger airbags plus the mandatories – anti-lock brakes, stability and traction controls. Also standard is a reversing camera with park assist and sensors to make backing safer, plus rain-sensing wipers and adaptive xenon headlights along with front and rear fog lamps. A speed limiter is fitted to the cruise control and there is a tyre pressure monitoring system.

A step up to the G10 Executive gets you front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Infotainment, Comfort and Convenience

All G10s have a seven-inch LCD infotainment screen with Bluetooth for phone and audio. With the G10 Executive you get a 10-inch multi-function display and a roof-mounted screen to watch DVD's.

Want a sunroof? You won't get one in the G10, you get three, one opening and two-fixed in the G10 Executive.

How about the handiness of powered sliding side doors? Once again only the G10 Executive has them, along with a powered tailgate (seven-seater only) and leather trim. You can get leather in the G10 but only in the nine-seater.

Engine and transmission choices

The LDV G10 range is powered by a 2.0-litre 165kW / 330Nm petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Drive away prices for LDV G10 range are as follows:
LDV G10 seven-seater – $30,990
LDV G10 nine-seater – $33,990
LDV G10 Executive seven-seater – $37,990
LDV G10 Executive nine-seater – $39,990

Verdict

To get a family hauler on the road, packed with this much kit for a tad over 30 grand hits the value sweet spot with a bang and wins me. If I was going to loosen the purse strings, I'd go for the G10 nine-seater for its leather pews and extra space. I'm not a sunroof fan and every kid has a smart phone these days to keep them amused.
