LDV Australia is expanding its ute line-up with the launch of the all-new Terron 9 dual-cab, which will arrive in showrooms next month to sit alongside the smaller LDV T60.
Pricing starts from $49,990 drive away for ABN holders during a limited-time launch promotion, while private buyers will have to pay $53,674 drive-away for the base Terron 9 Origin and $58,937 for the top-spec Evolve.
Both are slightly more expensive than the Terron 9’s closest rival, the GWM Cannon Alpha diesel ($51,990 - $57,990 d/a).
A full pricing and spec breakdown can be found below.
A battery-electric version dubbed the LDV eTerron 9 is also due this year but is expected to be rather pricey.
The Chinese brand’s current electric ute, the eT60, is already priced at $100,000 and is widely regarded as a sales flop. The eTerron 9 is tipped to get single- (200kW) and dual-motor (325kW) powertrains with a 102-kilowatt-hour battery.
The 2025 LDV Terron 9 represents a significant step up for the Chinese-owned brand and has been tested in Australia. It’s built to compete in the ’upsized’ dual-cab segment, now part of an increasingly competitive Australian ute market that’s enduring further fragmentation.
By way of comparison, the LDV T60 Plus starts from $45,253 (d/a), but you’re getting significantly less ute for the money.
That’s because the Terron 9 stretches 105mm longer (5500mm vs 5395mm), stands 55mm taller (1874mm vs 1819mm) and crucially, is 97mm wider (1997mm vs 1900mm) – making it one of the widest offerings in the segment.
It should be noted that LDV also has an even longer ute, the 5710mm-long T60 Mega Tub Plus.
The arrival of LDV’s bigger ute follows a similar strategy employed by GWM, whose Cannon ute was joined by the slightly larger Cannon Alpha – the latter a direct rival for the new Terron 9.
The new Terron 9 will sit alongside LDV’s existing T60 ute range, giving the brand broader market coverage as it chases both tradies and family buyers.
“We want to make sure when a ute buyer walks into an LDV showroom, we have a vehicle that offers value across a range of price points,” said LDV Australia General Manager, Dinesh Chinnappa.
“We are not going to leave our traditional ute buyers behind. Rather, the LDV Terron ute series will broaden our offering across the ute segment.”
Both Terron 9 variants pack a 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 163kW/520Nm, paired with an eight-speed automatic and 4x4 as standard.
The T60 gets a smaller (but almost as powerful) 2.0-litre bi-turbo-diesel donk good for 160kW/500Nm.
The Terron 9 comes loaded with standard safety tech including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system.
Both variants feature dual 12.3-inch digital displays and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features.
The Origin model includes 18-inch alloys, cloth seats and a spray-in bed liner, while the Evolve steps up with 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated massaging seats, a JBL audio system as well as front and rear diff locks.
“We have seen the ute market evolve in recent years, including in the tradie and workhorse space,” Chinnappa said.
“These customers work hard and are often on the road all day and they appreciate space and comfort as much as family buyers do. So the new-generation LDV Terron 9 has been developed to reflect the changing demands on these vehicles.
“Workhorse no longer means compromise ... we are bringing new levels of space and comfort to the ute segment.”
First shipments of the new Terron 9 have already arrived in Australia, though initial availability will be limited before production ramps up.
The Terron 9 comes with LDV’s seven-year/200,000km warranty and is available in Black, Desert Yellow, Spruce Green, Jewel Blue, Concrete Grey and White. All but White adds $500 to the ute’s price.
