A leaked document has appeared on AR Project 952 Facebook page that is said to detail the complete engine range of the forthcoming Alfas Romeo Giulia.
If true, it gives us our first look at some of the non-performance-biased engines that will power the Italian car-maker’s most important car in its recent history.
Alfa Romeo has already revealed the details of the Ferrari-developed twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 petrol but this document reveals that, as well as the 500hp (368kW) version, the 2.9-litre will also be available with a fractionally less powerful 490hp (360kW) output because of torque and power restraints of an automatic box that will be available.
Curiously, the same engine will also be offered with the firm’s new dual-clutch transmission that allows for the full power to be deployed.
Diesel will, no doubt, continue to dominate Euro sales and, according to the cut and pasted doc, buyers will have the choice of a 150hp (110kW), 180hp (132kW), 210hp (155kW) 2.2-litre JTDM oil-burner.
On the petrol side there’s the new turbocharged 2.0-litre GME (Global Medium Engine) that comes with 200hp (147kW), 250hp (184kW) and 280hp (206kW).
Other information learnt from the list is the majority of the range will come with rear-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive will be available with the 155kW 2.2 diesel and the 184kW and most powerful 206kW version of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol.
The all-wheel drive models also only come equipped with the six-speed automatic.
It’s still not known when Alfa Romeo will officially reveal details on it full line-up following embarrassing delays that were highlighted by the Italian car-maker’s suppliers that suggest the Giulia delivery has been pushed back from late-2015 to at least six months.
The delays, says the suppliers, are due to Alfa conducting final analysis on safety and ride characteristics.
